It is a sound choice for many businesses: a huge plugin ecosystem, editors who already know it, and cheap hosting. It is also the platform most often found slow, insecure and abandoned, because plugins accumulate, updates lapse and nobody is responsible.
Whether to use it is a question of what the site must do and who will maintain it, and we say so plainly on the WordPress or custom build post. A WordPress site with a care plan is fine. One without is the most common source of the hacked site rebuild.
