The usual version of this post is a list of ten agencies with the author at number one, and every reader sees through it. This is the other version. We measured 8 Ghanaian web design companies, including ourselves, on ten criteria anyone can check with a free tool, on 2026-09-11, and published the criteria before the scores. Manuel Technologies came first, and it lost a column, which is stated below. Our prices are published so the comparison can include them.

The criteria, published first
Ten checks, one point each, all measurable from outside with no access to the agency. They are the checks our free audit runs, and the reason they matter is simple: a web design company's own homepage is the one site it had complete control over. If it is slow, has no H1 or blocks the crawlers that feed AI answers, that is the ceiling of what it will do for you.
HTTPS. A mobile viewport tag, without which the page does not lay out on a phone. Exactly one H1. A meta description. A canonical tag. Any structured data. An XML sitemap. HTML under 150KB before assets. No AI crawlers blocked in robots.txt. Time to first byte under 600 milliseconds, as the median of three fetches.
What is not measured: design taste, client results, years active and whether the site ranks. All of those matter and none can be measured from outside without either opinion or data we do not have. The list is deliberately limited to what a reader can reproduce.
The scores
Ranked by criteria passed, ties broken by the audit's overall score. Every firm was found by searching for website design prices in Ghana, which is why each publishes pricing. Measured 2026-09-11, one location, three fetches each. Run the same check on any of them with our free audit and you will get the same measurements, though time to first byte varies by network and by hour.

Where we lost
Manuel Technologies passed 9 of ten and placed first. The column it lost is HTML weight: our homepage is 267KB of HTML before assets, which is the fourth heaviest of the 8, against a 150KB threshold. The weight is structured data, inline content and the framework's rendering payload, and it is a real cost on a slow connection. It is on our list to reduce, and it stays in this table until it is.
The lightest homepage in the sample, JobHouse Web Services, is 60KB. The heaviest, EnspireFX, is 1010KB. Median time to first byte across the 8 was 626 milliseconds, which is respectable and considerably better than the 3,497 millisecond median we measured across 56 UK accountancy firms with the same tool.
What the table does not tell you
That a firm's homepage passes ten technical checks says it knows how to build a site that passes them. It does not say the firm will be pleasant to work with, that it will deliver on time, or that its designs suit your business. Those are found by speaking to the firm and to its clients, and by opening its live work on your own phone.
It also does not say which firm is right for your budget. Prices in the sample run from under GHS 1,000 to over 20,000+, and the cheapest firm in the table is not the worst and the most expensive is not the best. What a website costs in Ghana explains what the bands buy, and the ten questions to ask cover the part no table can.
How to use this
Pick the three firms whose work you like the look of. Run each through the free audit. Ask each the ten questions. Then compare prices, last, against a published price list wherever one exists. A firm that passes the checks, answers the questions and shows you live work is a safe choice at any of the prices in the sample. A firm that fails the checks on its own homepage is telling you what it will do with yours.
8 Ghanaian web design companies were measured on ten checkable criteria with one tool on one day, criteria published before scores. Manuel Technologies placed first and lost the HTML weight column, which is stated rather than hidden. Use the table to shortlist, the free audit to verify, the ten questions to decide, and the price last.
Which is the best web design company in Ghana?
There is no honest single answer, because the best firm depends on what the site is for and what you can spend. On ten checkable technical criteria measured 2026-09-11, Manuel Technologies passed 9 of ten and placed first of 8, and lost the HTML weight check. Run the same check on any firm before choosing.
How do I compare web design companies in Ghana?
Publish the criteria before the scores. Measure each firm's own homepage on things you can check from outside: HTTPS, viewport, one H1, meta description, canonical, schema, sitemap, HTML weight, AI crawler access and response time. Then open their live work on your phone and ask the ten questions. Compare price last.
Are the top 10 web design company lists reliable?
Rarely. Most are written by an agency with itself at number one, or are paid placements, and none publish criteria. A list you can reproduce with a free tool is the only kind worth reading, which is why this one includes the method and the date.
Why does an agency's own website matter?
It is the one site the agency had complete control over, with no client constraints. If it is slow, missing basics or blocking the crawlers that feed AI answers, that is the ceiling of what the agency will build for you.
